ABOUT US
Light of Europe – Oradea, February 13–14, 2026
International Masonic Conference organized under the auspices of the National Grand Lodge of Romania
Light of Europe is an annual event dedicated to dialogue, knowledge, and openness toward civil society. In 2026, Oradea will host the fourth edition, continuing a tradition launched with the aim of bringing the history and values of Freemasonry to the forefront through a transparent, objective, academic, and accessible approach for the general public.
OUR HISTORY

The previous editions have gradually shaped the identity of Light of Europe: a space for reflection and public maturity, where topics related to the history, principles, and values of Freemasonry are presented by recognized specialists with professional integrity and solid academic experience. Throughout its development, the format has evolved, yet its essence has remained unchanged: the promotion of progress, openness, and authentic dialogue between Freemasonry and the wider community.
Starting with the 2025 edition, the conference moved beyond its initial boundaries, becoming an event with international participation and a clearly defined European perspective. The presence of foreign delegations, the diversity of speakers, and the expansion of activities have strengthened Light of Europe’s status as a regional benchmark.
WHAT LIGHT OF EUROPE REPRESENTS
The event takes place every year in February and is held over the course of a weekend. Its central highlight is the Light of Europe Conference, open to the public, where historical, symbolic, and cultural aspects of Freemasonry are explored. Alongside the conference, participants—delegates, families, and members of the public—can enjoy a wide range of complementary activities:
-
book launches and editorial presentations
-
round tables and thematic discussions
-
guided tours of the Oradea Museum of Freemasonry
-
walks through the historic city center and local cultural experiences
The program is designed to also allow delegates time to explore Oradea individually—a city renowned for its architectural heritage, cosmopolitan atmosphere, and distinctive hospitality.
